MECO: OFW contracts in trouble as Taiwan looks possibility to hire other nationals as retaliation

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen called a special Cabinet meeting to discuss the Philippines' travel ban which includ Manila Economic and Cultural Office director Angelito Banayo.

Banayo said that the Taiwanese government is angry with the Philippines for believing that it is the result of the so-called "One China Policy."

“Ito po yung sa possible retaliatory measures. Imagine kung hindi nai-renew ang kanilang work contracts or ipagbawal ‘yung factories dito ay magbawas ng Pilipino… those are possible retaliatory measures,” Banayo said to GMA News.

As a result, the political issue raised by the coronavirus has become a political issue.

Magme-meet ulit within two or three days,” Banayo added.
