Migrant workers in Taiwan calls for a big rally; to enforce direct hiring and eradicate brokers


On a post by Taiwan International Workers Association (TIWA) on facebook, they are calling on all migrant workers in Taiwan to join the rally this coming December 8, 2019 (Sunday).


The group are looking to enforce government to government hiring or direct hiring and also abolish the broker system.


The post was written in four languages inviting nationalities from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. The assembly time is at 12:30pm infront of KMT office.


Migrant workers groups in Taiwan always perform rally and unite workers to end the broker system ever since. Though broker system in Taiwan is a law that needs to follow by companies and other institutes.

Placement agencies or brokers in Taiwan are not allowed to collect placement fees from migrant workers. They are only allowed to charge service fees which are NT$1,800 on first year, NT$1,700 on second year and NT$1,500 on third year.
