16-year old female from Visayas first case of vaping related illness, DOH confirmed


The first reported lung injury that is related to vaping or use of electronic cigarettes in the Philippines was confirmed he Department of Health (DOH), reported by GMA.


The victim was a 16-year-old female from the Visayas according to DOH secretary Secretary Francisco Duque III. The victim started smoking using vape in March this year.

On October this year, the goverment begins to crackdown and send warning regarding the health problems that vaping can cause to human health.

DOH Undersecretary Eric Domingo said the department will support legislation that will ban e-cigarettes that enable users to inhale addictive nicotine liquids.


E-cigarettes were "undoubtedly harmful" and should be regulated as warned by the World Health Organization (WHO).
