Taoyuan Airport MRT hits 63 million passengers in by far 2years of service


Taipei's airport express metro line that connect Taipei Main Station to Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan's largest airport in Taoyuan City, has served over 63 million passengers, said by Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan of Taoyuan.


The Taoyuan Airport MRT starts of its service just in 2017 and bring convenience to commuters from the airport to Taiwan's capital city, and is growing constantly.

The average daily ridership reached 74,000 during the first 10 months of this year (2019) up 20.9 percent year on year, according to the mayor.


Taoyuan MRT has two types of services, the commuter trains and the express trains. Express trains run from Taipei directly to the Taoyuan airport in just 38 minutes. The commuter service that stops at all 21 stations on the line takes only 50 minutes.

Some 20,000-30,000 local and foreign passengers and commuters use the Taoyuan Airport MRT Station every day to travel on the line when going to work or school, largely reducing the traffic on the national freeways.
