Wildfire broke out near Taichung City freeway; fire intentionally set said by fire bureau


A wildfire that broke out in Taichung City as it spread closely to a freeway on Sunday (Nov. 10). The fire spread due to strong wind and fire expanded to to 2 hectares.


The wildfire brings fear among many motorists that the road would be closed to traffic. The fire station dispatched nearly 20 water vehicles and more than 100 firefighters. 


The right side of the freeway road in Taichung of the 185K north of the National Highway No. 3, started to burn at about 2:20 pm. as reported by Liberty Times News.


However, the fire was still uncontrolled at 11 o'clock in the evening. The fire was affecting the whole line of the national highway as police controlled the traffic.

According to fire bureau, the fire was intentionally set and if a person was found to be responsible, they could be charged with Offenses Against Public Safety for violating the Air Pollution Control Act. (Photos from LTN)
