MECO asks Taiwan to include Filipino workers in priority vaccination list as soon as possible


Hundreds of Filipino migrant workers in Taiwan tested positive of COVID-19 with some are cluster infections in dormitory that urge Philippine defacto embassy in Taiwan to appeal on Taiwan government.


Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) appealed to Taiwan to include Filipino migrant workers and caregivers in its vaccination plan priority list as soon as possible.


The statement came from MECO Vice Chairman Gilberto Lauengco from n interview from Central News Agency.


MECO stated that Taiwan's economy would be hurt if cluster infections broke out in its factories.


"We understand that it will be difficult to list migrant workers as a priority group for vaccination, but we hope the Taiwan government considers it for the benefit of everybody," he said via CNA.


Filipinos in Taiwan are the thirs largest group of migrant workers behind Indonesians and Vietnamese.
