Tsai Ing-wen cites Philippines is one of Taiwan’s closest neighbors, commends lifting of ban

On Feb 14, the Philippines lifted the travel ban after the meeting of Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Disease that the agencies learn more about Taiwan’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID19.

Posted on facebook page of President Tsai Ing-wen:
We approve of the Filipino government’s decision, and I want to thank all of our friends in the Philippines who spoke up for Taiwan.

The Philippines is one of Taiwan’s closest neighbors, and we will continue working to foster closer bilateral relations. To our Filipino friends working, studying, and traveling in Taiwan, I want to say that we will continue our efforts to prevent COVID-19 from entering our borders, and there is no cause for worry as long as you comply with prevention guidelines.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed sincere gratitude and they continue to explain to the international community that the Taiwan epidemic situation is currently under stable control.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again strongly appeals to the World Health Organization (WHO) that public health and epidemic prevention are not politics, and Taiwan and China are not affiliated with each other.
