Apple To Reward US$1Million Who Can Hack The Core Of An iPhone

The 1 million dollar offer is by far the highest bug bounty for a technology company as it offers hackers finding vulnerabilities in iPhones and Macs, as reported by several tech sites.

Previously the offer is $200,000 which is open to all researchers. Only those on the company’s invite-only bug bounty program were eligible to receive rewards.

Apple is also extending the bounty to its watchOS and its Apple TV operating system. The bug bounty announcement came in Las Vegas at the Black Hat conference where Apple security engineering talk about iOS and MacOS security.

The $1 million bounty will go to the researcher who can find a hack the core of iOS with zero clicks required by the iPhone owner, with $500,000 reward to those who can find a “network attack requiring no user interaction.” A 50% bonus will be given for hackers who can find weaknesses in software before it's released.

There are 50 serious bug reported for Apple since 2016 and the bug bounty will surely help increase more security.
