Eating of wild animals like bat, rat and wolves in China seen as one cause of the virus outbreak

Eating and exposure to wild animals seen as part of the virus outbreak that started in Wuhan, China which is now considered as ground zero, several media reported.

China's markets, where wild and often poached animals are packed together, have been described as a breeding ground for disease.

The market has a list of more than 100 wild species not usually found on dining tables, variety of species includes scorpions, peacocks, porcupines, hedgehogs, sika deer, foxes, centipedes, camels, salamanders, civets, Chinese bamboo rats, and much more.

Chinese netizens indicates that live wild animals kept in cages or carcasses lying on the ground had been common sights at the market, shedding light on the poor hygienic conditions.

Coronaviruses are zoonotic diseases, meaning they spread to people from animals. The virus is from the same family of viruses as Sars, which was passed to humans from bats by the masked pam civets, and Mers, which was carried from bats to humans by camels.
