LOOK: Photo shows the lake at the crater of Taal Volcano has totally dried up

The lake at Taal’s main crater vaporized following its eruption of the volcano which alao reveals  smaller vents inside according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

“Nakita po natin na vaporized na, nawala na po ang Main Crater Lake,” said Ma. Antonia Bornas, chief of Phivolcs’ Volcano Monitoring and Eruption Prediction Division.

This is a normal occurrence for Taal during an eruption, according to Phivolcs. It is looking into the possibility that water from the main crater receded because of the ground was breaking apart or fissuring, a phenomenon which happens when magma pushes its way upward to the earth’s surface.

Taal’s eruption continued to be generally weaker added by Phivolcs, they also said that the volcano is expelling 700-meter tall plumes that drifted southwest.

Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 4 and continues to warn of a hazardous eruption soon. (Photo by Ken Jover)
