Pinoy workers' broker in Taiwan caught for illegal currency trading worth over NT$400 million


The Investigation Bureau's Taipei City Field Office interrogated Hua-gong-ha, a Philippine migrant worker broker Which is engaged in the underground and illegal currency trading.


The illegal currency trading of the broker between Taiwan and the Philippines reached an amount of NT$400 million.

Investigators received a report that the company operated by Yang Junyi used to handle foreign worker brokerages and import and export trade. The broker is working with I-Remit, a Philippines-based, non-banking financial service provider.

The broker company is suspected of operating underground currency trading of new Taiwan dollars and Pesos in a report by Global News for New Immigrants.


Investigators found that transactions is suspected for violating the Banking Act of Taiwan which is exceeded NT$400 million.

The broker company also charged 1 to 3 percent of the transaction amount as a service fee.
