Taiwan's 2020 Pingxi Sky Lantern set for two dates on Feb. 1 and Feb. 8


The 2020 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival will take place this coming February 1 and February 8 (both Saturday) according to a New Taipei City Travel press release, Taiwan News reported.


The Sky Lantern fetivities for Feb 1 will be held at Pingxi Junior High School from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., while the Feb 8 festivities will be held at Shifen Sky Lantern Square from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

See up to 150 sky lanterns taking to the skies all at the same time. During Chinese New Year it is especially encouraged for tourists to visit Pingxi and release a sky lantern into the sky.


Both towns of Pingxi and Shifen are located along the Pingxi Line of the train system which is accessible from Ruifang.

How to get there?

From Taipei Main Station, take a northbound train going to Ruifang Station and transfer to the Pingxi Line (drop off on either Shifen or Pingxi stations)
