2 overseas Filipino nurse in UK dies on possible COVID-19 infection

Two Filipino nurses were reportedly died in United Kingdom after being exposed to patients infected with the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Last Friday (April 3), a 23-year-old Filipino nurse named John Alagos died after attending patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in a 12-hour shift at Watford General Hospital in the United Kingdom.

His mother, Gina Gustillo said although ill, Alagos was asked to remain on duty because of the hospital's lack of staff.

On the same country, Filipino nurse Donald "Dondee" Zuelto, who attended patients exhibiting symptoms of the disease at Barts Health National Health Service (NHS) Trust    on March 24, also died while undergoing his self-quarantine.

London police first declared Zuelto as missing until he was found dead on his own abode.

UK has 18,000  Filipino nurses working for the country, the second-highest number of foreign health workers next to India.
