Malacanang warns to arrest hoarders of alcohol, face mask and basic commodities


On Thursday, March 12, 2020, Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo straight forwardly stated that the office of the President hereby gives warning to those who hoard and sell alcohol, face mask, and basic commodities  beyond their regular price that they would be arrested and dealt with in accordance with law.


President Rodrigo Duterte, on Sunday has already declared a state of public health emergency throughout the Philippines, allowing the government to impose price freeze on all basic commodities for 60 days.

He has also instructed the Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation to monitor the price of face masks and alcohol to prevent cases of hoarding.

Additionally, the palace pleaded the public to buy only what they need after the incidence of panic buying in many places.

The Malacañang also asked the media to avoid exaggerating reports to avoid stress to the people.
