48-year-old OFW died after falling from a yacht in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour


Hong Kong police investigates the death of a Filipino worker who fell into Victoria Harbour from a yacht, reported by South China Morning Post.


According to the police, the 48-year-old accidentally fell overboard on Saturday (Nov 23), rescue efforts by his friend and fellow crewman were not successful.

Though the passing yacht able to recover the OFW and was sent to the Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai where he was pronounced dead.


"The body will be examined and the cause of death will be determined after that," according to the police spokesman.

The police said they received calls for help on Saturday after the man fell into the sea about 1km off the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. A group of police officers went on board of the yacht on Sunday morning to collect evidence.

The Filipino man was a crewman on the yacht Sweet Dream, which is stationed at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

The yacht club said that the organisation was sorry for the tragedy. The club could not provide more information because the Filipino was not a member.
