More than 13,000 chickens culled due to avian influenza in Taiwan's Yunlin


More than 13,000 chickens that were raised on a farm in Yunlin County were culled due to a case of highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed, reported by Central News Agency.


The chickens came from a farm in Baozhong Township in Yunlin, around 13,220 eight-month old chickens were culled and a blanket disinfection operations conducted to prevent the virus from spreading in the area.

The pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed but the type of virus has yet to be disclosed.


According to a local government official responsible for animal and plant quarantine affairs, fall season is the peak of bird flu.

They advised farm workers to stay on high alert by restricting the movements of personnel and vehicles, while maintaining hygiene on their farms through the fall and going to winter. (Photo CNA)
